The short answer

All-Source AutoGlass recalibrates the front camera on cars with lane-keeping, automatic braking and adaptive cruise after a windshield replacement, across Windsor, Greeley, Fort Collins, Loveland and Johnstown. Recalibration costs about $150 to $300 or more, depending on the manufacturer and whether the car needs a static or a dynamic recalibration. You get a recalibration certificate when it passes.

Why does the camera need recalibrating?

The camera that reads lane lines and spots the car ahead looks through the windshield, usually from a bracket at the top of the glass. A new windshield can move its aim very slightly, and that is enough to matter, which is why manufacturers call for a recalibration after glass replacement.

We never skip a required recalibration to bring a price down.

What is the difference between static and dynamic recalibration?

A static recalibration is done standing still, with the camera aimed at targets set at measured distances. A dynamic recalibration is done on the road, driving at set speeds while the system relearns. Some cars need one, some need both. The manufacturer decides, which is part of why the price ranges.

How do I know if my car needs it?

If your car has any of these, ask us:

  • Lane-keeping or lane departure warning
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • A camera housing behind the rear-view mirror

Tell us the year, make and model and we will check what your manufacturer requires before we replace the windshield.

What happens when it is done wrong?

“they found the hail place had installed my camera system not only wrong, but missing a whole part. My safety features have not been working properly because the hail people!!”
